Salman Khan is considered one of the biggest superstars in the world. However, there was a time in the actor’s career when he was facing lows after lows, as his films were not doing well. So, he went to one of his closest friends in the industry, another superstar who was at his career’s peak at that time and sought his help. He was Govinda, who ruled Bollywood in the 90s.
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Govinda revealed that the 1997 film Judwaa was initially offered to him, but he did not choose it. He said, “I was at the top of my game at the time when a film called Banarasi Babu was being filmed. I was also working on Judwaa at that time.” He stated that as Judwaa’s shoot continued, he got a call from Salman at around 2-3 am, who asked him, “‘Chichi Bhaiyya, how many hits will you give?” to which Govinda replied, “Why, what happened?” Then, Salam said, “The film which you are shooting right now- Judwaa- please withdraw yourself from the project and please give the movie to me.”
Salman continued by saying that he wanted to work with the director, and the producer, Sajid Nadiadwala, as well. Govinda added, “So the film which had already gone on the floors was shelved right there and Salman took over the project.”
Govinda further revealed that the Khans are like a family to him, so he and Sohail Khan came to the decision together. The actor shared that their bond was not affected because of films and their work never interfered with their relationships.
