Tamil Actor Vishal Dismisses Rumours Of Starting A Political Party: 'If Nature Demands, Then I Will...'
Actor Vishal opened up regarding rumours about him starting a political party.

South actor Vishal has two decades of experience in films. He has contributed to the film industry with hits like Sandakozhi, Enemy, and the recent one, Mark Antony. He announced his collaboration with director Hari for his 34th film titled Rathnam. Its teaser was revealed on December 1, 2023. However, amid this, there were reports floating on the internet that Vishal is starting his own political party. The actor has clarified this through an official statement on February 7.

The actor stated, “I am forever indebted to the people of Tamil Nadu who recognised me as an actor and social worker in the society. With the aim of helping people as much as I can, from the beginning, I thought that my fan club should not be treated as an average club, but it should be run to benefit people. We have been running the fan club with the aim of doing our best for those who are in need.”

He added, “The next step is to create a people’s welfare movement and work district-wise, constituency-wise and branch-wise. Through the ‘Devi Foundation’ run in the name of my mother, we help many poor and needy students every year. We are also helping affected farmers.

I meet people in many places where I go for shooting and listen to their basic needs and grievances and fulfill their demands through my people’s welfare movement. I have never expected political gains while indulging in welfare activities. If nature demands, then I will not hesitate to speak for the people in future.”

Meanwhile, Rathnam marks the third collaboration between Vishal and Hari, following their successful ventures with the 2006 film Thamarabharani and the 2014 film Poojai. The movie stars Priya Bhavani Shankar as the female lead, and notable actors like Yogi Babu, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Samuthirakani, and Murali Sharma will play significant roles. Produced by Stone Bench Films in association with Zee Studios and Invenio Origin, the film boasts the musical expertise of National Award winner Devi Sri Prasad, while M Sukumar handles the cinematography.

Vishal’s most recent appearance was in the science fiction comedy film Mark Antony, directed by Adhik Ravichandran. The movie boasted an ensemble cast including SJ Suryah, Ritu Varma, Selvaraghavan, YG Mahendran, and others in key roles. Produced by Mini Studios, the film featured music by GV Prakash Kumar, cinematography by Abhinandan Ramanujan, and editing by Vijay Velukkutty.

Following Rathnam, Vishal is set to make his directorial debut with the much-anticipated sequel to his 2017 film, Thupparivaalan. Titled Thupparivaalan 2, the actor will not only be directing the film but will also play the lead role in this upcoming project. Fans can look forward to Vishal taking on a dual role as both director and protagonist in this sequel.
