Shraddha Kapoor Surpasses PM Modi With 91.4 Million Instagram Followers, Fails To Beat Virat Kohli
Shraddha Kapoor has become the third most-followed Indian on Instagram. The list is topped by Virat Kohli and Priyanka Chopra.

Shraddha Kapoor has surpassed Prime Minister Narendra Modi to become the third most-followed Indian on Instagram. On Wednesday, it was reported that the Bollywood actress now has 91.4 million followers on the Meta-owned platform. On the other hand, PM Modi has 91.3 million followers on the platform.

While Shraddha managed to surpass PM Modi on Instagram, she is still behind cricket star Virat Kohli and global star Priyanka Chopra. While PeeCee has 91.8 million followers on Instagram, Virat Kohli is followed by 271 million people on the platform.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Shraddha Kapoor is currently enjoying the success of Stree 2. Also starring Rajkummar Rao, Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee and Pankaj Tripathi, the film hit theatres on August 15 and impressed audiences. Directed by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 sees Rajkummar and Shraddha reprise their roles from the original. The sequel continues the eerie tale in the town of Chanderi, now haunted by a new terror, Sarkata. The townspeople once again turn to Stree for salvation. The film also features several surprise cameos, including Varun Dhawan as Bhediya, who shares a special song with Shraddha Kapoor.

Stree 2 clashed at the box office with Akshay Kumar and Taapsee Pannu’s Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham’s Vedaa. Despite this, Stree 2 managed to gather audiences’ attention. According to Sacnilk, Stree 2 has collected Rs 254.55 Cr (net, early estimates) as of Day 6. The film is charging towards surpassing the lifetime box office collection of Kalki 2898 AD’s Hindi version. Stree 2 is likely to beat that record by this weekend.

Recently, Karan Johar also praised Stree 2’s success at the box office and mentioned that he too is ‘inspired’ by it. The filmmaker penned down a long note on social media which read, “The JUGGERNAUT MEGA BLOCKBUSTER SUCCESS of STREE2 is not just a celebration for @maddockfilms but must be viewed as a celebration of Hindi cinema and Indian mainstream cinema… in the past few years Hindi cinema has been under scrutiny for combatting box office challenges… the post pandemic audience has been evolving and many times difficult to assess … But the mega success of STREE 2 has not only validated the strength of a solid storytelling and rooted content but also affirmed that humongous conviction, bravado and focus on concept, story and a deep rooted connect with an audience will pay rich dividends at the ticket window!”
