Ravi Teja Returns Part Of His Fee To Producers After Mr Bachchan’s Box Office Failure: Report
Latest reports suggest that Ravi Teja and Harish Shankar have now helped the producers recover from their loss.

Filmmaker Harish Shankar was very optimistic about making the film Mr Bachchan, a Telugu remake of the Hindi film Raid. Harish Shankar’s previous film Gaddalakonda Ganesh, also a remake, did well at the box office. Gaddalakonda Ganesh was a remake of the Tamil film Jigarthanda. For Mr Bachchan, Harish had cast Ravi Teja and Bhagyashri Borse and even upped the ante by going for an Independence Day release. Despite the August 15 release, the film opened to a cold response and ultimately failed at the box office. Mr Bachchan clashed with another anticipated film Double iSmart at the box office and neither one of them managed to work. According to reports, Mr Bachchan made a meagre Rs 14 crore at the worldwide box office, causing significant losses to the producer. Latest reports suggest that Ravi Teja and Harish Shankar have now helped the producers recover from their loss. Both have reportedly returned a significant portion of their remuneration to People Media Factory, the film’s producers.

According to a report, a source from the production unit said, “Ravi Teja and Harish Shankar voluntarily refunded part of their earnings — R 4 crore and Rs 2 crore respectively. They were not asked to do this, but felt disheartened by the film’s poor performance at the box office, even though they had high hopes for it. They decided to ease the financial burden on the producers by returning the money.”

Before Mr Bachchan even hit theatres, it faced backlash online for allegedly objectifying the female lead in its songs. The film centres on a principled Income Tax officer who takes on a formidable and corrupt politician, portrayed by Jagapathi Babu.

Ravi Teja is currently working on two films: one directed by Gopichand Malineni and the other by Bhanu Bhogavarapu. Harish is involved in a film titled Ustaad Bhagat Singh, which is the Telugu remake of the 2016 Tamil film Theri.
