The buzz surrounding Vijay Sethupathi’s landmark 50th film, Maharaja, has been immense. Released on June 14, the latest movie featuring Makkal Selvan recently completed its successful 25-day run in cinemas and it even surpassed the Rs 100-crore mark. Alongside Vijay Sethupathi, Maharaja features a talented cast including Anurag Kashyap, Mamta Mohandas and numerous talented actors. Now, nearly a month after its theatrical debut, the much-awaited OTT release of Maharaja is just around the corner. Netflix recently delighted fans by making the exciting announcement about the OTT release date of Sethupathi’s latest thriller. The streaming giant sharing the intriguing poster featuring the superstar announced that the film will premiere on July 12. As a treat for pan pan-India audience, the Tamil movie will be available in multiple languages on the platform. Making the announcement, Netflix wrote, “When his Lakshmi is stolen, hidden secrets come to light. How far will Maharaja go to set things right? Maharaja is coming to Netflix on 12th July in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.”

According to Sacnilk, Maharaja had a strong start at the box office as it collected Rs 3.6 crore on its opening day. The film has since earned Rs 78 crore in the domestic market and Rs 24 crore from international markets.
Speaking about why he chose to work in the movie, Sethupathi in an earlier interview with ETV Bharat shared, “The narrative of Maharaja resonated with me deeply, much like the movie Pizza. The twists and turns in the story are incredibly engaging and as soon as I heard the director’s vision, I knew this had to be my 50th film.”
Talking about his future project, Vijay Sethupathi added, “My career will continue as before. I don’t like to carry the burden of expectations or dreams. Instead, I focus on the thrill of working on each new project, and that’s what drives me every day.”
Other than Makkal Selvan and Anurag Kashyap, Maharaja also stars Sachana Namidass, Mamta Mohandas, Natarajan Subramaniam, Abhirami, Aruldoss, Munishkanth, Manikandan, Singampuli and Bharathiraja in key roles.
