Dr Meenakshi Anupindi has nurtured the Suswara Music Academy in Dallas, USA, for nearly 21 years. It imparts classical music education to numerous individuals. Each year, anniversary festivities honouring the Suswara Music Academy take place in Dallas. Most recently, the academy’s anniversary celebrations were conducted in a lavish style at the Dallas Grand Center Auditorium. A multitude of Telugu celebrities in the US including Prasad Thotakura, Gopal Ponangi, Kishore Kancharla, Sharada Singireddy, and Prakash Rao, along with local Telugu residents, graced the occasion. Acclaimed figures from the film industry such as Oscar-winning lyricist Chandrabose, music director RP Patnaik, and director VN Aditya were also in attendance, enhancing the event’s prestige.
Meenakshi Anipindi, along with her group of disciples, performed over 30 traditional music songs in 7 segments during these annual celebrations. It is no exaggeration to say that this 10-hour non-stop cultural singing performance kept the audience glued to their seats. Chandrabose was bestowed with the prestigious title of Suswara Sahitya Kalanidhi. As part of the event, Chandrabose generously contributed over $15,000 towards the construction of the Oscar Library in his hometown Challagariga. RP Patnaik was honoured with the title of Suswara Nadanidhi during the ceremony. It is commendable that the students of Suswara Music Academy worked as volunteers to make this program a reality.
This felicitation is yet another feather in the cap for lyricist Chandrabose, after a documentary on him titled Oscar Challagariga was declared winner in the Cannes World Film Festival, France. The documentary was crafted by senior journalist Chilkuri Sushil Rao. He is a documentary filmmaker based in Hyderabad, Telangana. This film chronicles the festivities in Challagariga village situated in the Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, the birthplace of lyricist Chandrabose.
Chandrabose won the Oscar for Best Lyricist for the song Naatu Naatu from RRR.
