Kaatera Star Darshan In Legal Trouble For Derogatory Comments Against Women
An organisation objected to his statement during his event at Srirangapatna, describing it as derogatory.

South star Darshan faces new trouble as some members of the women’s organisation, Gowdatiyara Sene, have filed a complaint with the Women’s Commission against the actor for allegedly using offensive language against women during his recent speech in Srirangapatna. The organisation objected to his statement ‘Ivathu ivalu irthale, naale avalu barthale’ (loosely translated as ‘today, it’s her, tomorrow it’s another) at the event, describing it as derogatory.

The comments were purportedly the actor’s reaction to an online exchange of words between his wife, Vijaylakshmi and rumoured girlfriend, Pavithra Gowda.

Renuka, the state president of Gowdatiyara Sene, upon submitting the complaint, stated, “Darshan should learn to respect women. He should practice what he preaches on screen. He should explain why he used such words while addressing his fans publicly. Furthermore, he should apologise to women for using such language. Last time, he commented ‘Adrushta Devathe’. We’re aware of his past issues with his wife. We waited for three days for him to acknowledge his mistake and apologise, but he has yet to do so. That’s why we decided to approach the Women’s Commission.”

“If he doesn’t comply, then we will stage a protest in front of his house,” she added.

The complaint submitted to the Women’s Commission reads: “He is a role model for several youngsters. Thousands of people were present at the event when he made such insulting comments. Darshan should apologise and explain the kind of messages he wants to send out to the youth.”

As many as 13 members of the organisation have signed the complaint addressed to the Women’s Commission chief.

Besides, Darshan celebrated his 47th birthday on February 16. Known as the Challenging Star of the Kannada film industry, he marked the occasion grandly by treating over 30,000 fans to a lavish meal. With a massive fan base in Karnataka, Darshan is widely adored. On Wednesday, accompanied by director Tharun Sudhir of Kateera fame, the actor attended an event where a towering 6 feet 2 inches chocolate statue of himself was unveiled. Darshan was pleasantly surprised to see a life-sized statue crafted entirely from chocolate.
