Juhi Chawla Recalls Feeling Cheated After Meeting Shah Rukh Khan For First Time: ‘Ye Kya Hai’

Juhi Chawla and Shah Rukh Khan are close friends and have done numerous films together, including Darr and Yes Boss. In an interview recently, the actress recalled her first meeting with the superstar and mentioned how she felt cheated. Juhi Chawla opened up about how the Pathan actor has worked hard to reach the position he is in today.

Talking at the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry event, Juhi Chawla said that she hadn’t seen any of Shah Rukh’s work on TV and also had no idea what he looked like. “We had done a movie when even I was still new in the industry, named Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman. Producer Vivek Vaswani said big things that your hero was in Fauji and he’s very famous and looks like Aamir Khan. In my mind, I pictured a chocolate-faced, good-looking hero, like Aamir. So I said, ‘yes, why won’t I do the movie!” Juhi shared.

“When I reached the set, that was when I first saw him. Shah Rukh, patla sa, dubla sa, brown colour ka, white shirt mein duble patle se. Moti naak, mote honth. Maine bola, ‘ye kya hai?’ Ye toh mere saath dhokha ho gaya,” she added.

In the same interview, Juhi mentioned that Shah Rukh Khan’s car was also taken because he was unable to pay EMI. “He had one car. It was a Gypsy. I remember it was a black Gypsy. He used to do two or three shifts. Humare saath Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman kar rahe the and I think Dil Aashna Hai kar rahe the and then he was doing another film with Divya. He used to be working round the clock and he was really driven. For some reason, he had not been able to pay for his car ya EMI nahi di thi. Kuch ho gaya tha and his car got taken away and he had nothing,” she said.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Shah Rukh Khan was last seen in Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki. Next, he will soon be seen in King. The film is being produced by Siddharth Anand and Gauri Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment. The film will be directed by Sujoy Ghosh and is also likely to star SRK’s daughter Suhana Khan. Recently, it was revealed that Shah Rukh will be playing a Don in his film. Much like his OG Don role, he will have shades of grey in King.
