The next film of the much-loved Knives Out franchise is currently under production. The upcoming film Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery will be the third installment of Rian Johnson’s comedy mystery. The Netflix film already has a massive cast and other actors are also expected to do a cameo in it, especially actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt, reports Comicbook. The excitement about his appearance is even more as he has acted in or appeared in all of Johnson’s films since the release of Brick in 2005. In a recent interview with CinemaBlend, Gordon-Levitt talked about the issue and addressed if he would be continuing this trend in Wake Up Dead Man too.
“I don’t know, I don’t know but he makes only good movies. Rian Johnson is one of the best alive, I think,” Joseph explained.
Not much has been revealed about the storyline and details of Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery yet. However, the franchise regular, actor Daniel Craig as the sharp detective Benoit Blanc, will reprise his role in this one too. Other members of the production team have also shared that the newest chapter in the franchise will be “very, very different” from both the first film, Knives Out and second one, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, informs Comicbook.
“The first one, Johnson had the idea for years in his head, but he only put pen to paper like late January and by end of October we were filming it, which is a super fast. This movie, he really did not have an idea. He just stopped thinking and we were… From the moment he started really writing it, like, nine months later, a year later, we were filming,” producer Ram Bergman told ComicBook.
“So, the good thing, he is very motivated to go do the next one as quickly as possible. But, you know, we’ll see how fast he is but this is gonna be a challenge. It’s gonna be a bigger challenge. So we’ll see how long it’s gonna take,” he added.
As of now, the Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery will reportedly star some new cast members including Josh O’Connor, Cailee Spaeny, Andrew Scott, Kerry Washington, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Daryl McCormack and Thomas Haden Church in key roles.
