Days after Gurucharan Singh met Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah producer Asit Modi, it has now been revealed that the actor had requested Modi to take him back in his popular sitcom. As reported by Times Now, Singh insisted Asit Modi to cast him back in TMKOC by claiming that the new ‘Roshan Singh Sodhi’ is not being liked by the audience. Gurucharan even asked Modi to speak to media but he refused. Reportedly, Asit Modi made it clear that Singh isn’t returning to TMKOC.
On July 16, Singh and Modi met at the latter’s office in Mumbai. While their meeting left netizens wondering if Singh is returning to TMKOC soon, the actor spoke to Indian Express and said, “When I went missing, Asit Kumarr Modi sent me a message asking me to call him.” “Once I returned, I made it a point to meet with everyone who reached out to me. Given that he has been instrumental in my career, it was important for me to see him,” he added.
Later, Asit Kumarr Modi also opened up about their meeting in a statement and said, “For me, Sodhi is like my family. He was associated with us for a long period of time. After leaving the show for personal reasons, he used to come to meet me whenever he used to visit Mumbai.”
“I was worried about him for what he did sometime back and out of concern I messaged him. He visited our office today and we had a heart-to-heart conversation today and gave him best wishes for his future,” the producer added.
Gurcharan Singh played the role of Roshan Singh Sodhi — a fun-loving man who is always in party mode and never shies away from expressing love for his wife. He was one of the popular characters on the show, and also a founding cast member. Gurcharan, however, left the show in 2013 only to return next year due to public demand. After his exit in 2020, he was replaced by actor Balwinder Singh Suri. Singh has been missing from our television screens ever since.
