Contradicting the rumours stating that Bollywood filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani would be replacing Gajendra Chauhan as FTII chairman, his spokesperson has said that he has been asked to head the academic council, but he will not be able to take it up as his films keep him occupied and he would not have the bandwidth to handle FTII work.
Hirani will continue helping from the outside to end this deadlock between the ministry and the students, said the spokesperson.
Hirani, who is an alumnus of FTII, country’s premiere institution for film studies, has superhits like the ‘Munnabhai’ series, ‘3 Idiots’ and ‘PK’ to his credit.
In addition to students, several celebrities including Ranbir Kapoor, Kiran Rao, Piyush Mishra, Sayeed Mirza, Resul Pookutty and Rajat Kapoor have shared their perspective over the appointment of Gajendra Chauhan.
