Alaya F, who marked her Bollywood debut in 2020 with the comedy-drama Jawaani Jaaneman, has steadily built her portfolio with a few films in recent years, including Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Srikanth. Despite having a relatively modest filmography, critics and audiences have consistently praised her acting prowess. For those unfamiliar, Alaya is the daughter of former actress Pooja Bedi.
In a recent interview with The Times of India, Alaya shared insights into her upbringing while her mother was active in the film industry. She disclosed that she was only permitted to watch one of her mother’s films during her childhood and it was 1992 superhit film Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar.
The film starred Aamir Khan, Ayesha Jhulka and Pooja Bedi in lead roles. Talking about the reason, Alaya F shared that her mother was extremely embarrassed about her other films compared to Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar. As a result, she was not permitted to watch any other films. “She didn’t let me see the rest because she was so embarrassed by what she had done to them,” the Srikanth actress added.
Sharing another incident, Alaya also revealed that she once found a rare clip of her mother from one of the films she had featured in. She added, “Once, on her birthday, I found some footage of one of her other films, and she was so embarrassed that we all were laughing.”.
Apart from being the daughter of Pooja Bedi, Alaya is also the granddaughter of veteran actor Kabir Bedi. Talking about Pooja Bedi, the actress rose to the limelight with her performance in Jo Jeet Wahi Sikander. She even starred in popular films like Lootere and Phir Teri Kahaani Yaad Aayee. She even gained a lot of popularity after her stint in reality shows like Bigg Boss, Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and Nach Baliye.
