Vinod Khanna was one of the popular actors in Bollywood who never hesitated to make bold decisions in his successful life. After doing several supporting and character roles in the bunch of films like Man Ka Meet, Nateeja, Sachaa Jhutha, Mastana, Aan Milo Sajna and others, the actor got his first lead role in the Gulzar’s debut directorial Mere Apne. It was released in 1971.

The actor further starred in films like Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Achanak and others. In 1982, at the peak of his film career, Vinod Khanna temporarily took a break from the film industry to follow his spiritual guru Osho Rajneesh. In the later part of his career, the actor was seen doing senior character roles in films like Wanted, Dabangg and Dabangg 2. The actor died on April 27, 2017, at the age of 70 years. Before his death, the actor played a prominent role in the superhit film Dilwale.

Vinod Khanna had a decorated political career also. In 1997, he was elected from Gurdaspur constituency. He was also part of the union cabinet. The actor married his first wife Gitanjali Taleyarkhan in 1971, and they had two sons named Akshaye Khanna and Rahul.
