Sherbet is one of the most popular drinks in India and was widely influenced by the Persians.

Summer’s scorching heat often leaves the body feeling dehydrated and fatigued. It is of utmost importance to make sure that the body remains cool and hydrated during the soaring temperatures. Hence, people include various coolers, juices, and other cool dishes to make sure they feel refreshed and hydrated. Sherbet is one of the most popular drinks in the Indian household and was widely influenced by the Persians. Sherbets are light and refreshing cool drinks, which usually include fruits or flowery flavours. So, you can serve it as a welcome drink and replace it with hot tea or coffee, or you can have it in the evenings. But, today we have an interesting sherbet recipe which includes one of the most essential Indian spices: elaichi or cardamom.

Elaichi cloves and rock salt are excellent additions to the diet in the summer season. They are known to help with digestion, stomach upset and bacterial infections. Elaichi has quite a unique flavour and is used in a plethora of dishes like tea, biryanis, curries, kheer or payasam, biscuits and other recipes. But, imagine using it in a cool sherbet. Not only does it make the sherbet flavourful, but also lends a unique aroma to the drink.

To make an easy peasy elaichi (cardamom) sherbet, you would need a teaspoon of elaichi powder, two teaspoons of lemon juice, two tablespoons of sherbet, ½ tablespoon of salt, lemon slices, sugar and ice cubes.
