Water release from Indravati stopped

Flood situation in the Hati river at Kalahandi improved on Monday as release of water from Indravati reservoir through Mangalpur barrage was stopped as a flood control measure. Rain in the catchment area of the river too has stopped.

Through five gates of Mangalpur barrage of Indravati project, 464 cubic metres water per second was released into the Hati on Sunday. Road communication at NH-201 was also restored by noon.

On Sunday, two feet high flood water was flowing over the bridge over the Hati river near Junagarh on the NH. People of Balichada, Kuten, Temra, Biripur and Mankadsola who had been evacuated by the administration, returned to their villages after water receded.
