New Delhi: Bookie Mukesh Kochchar has accepted that the voice on the tape Nagpur police has released including a conversation with West Indies all-rounder Marlon Samuels, was his.
"The voice on the tape was mine," Kochar told CNN-IBN from Dubai on Thursday.
Nagpur police had sent a letter to the Board of Control for Cricket in India on Wednesday, saying Kochar had offered Samuels to reveal match information to him, ahead of the January 21 ODI between India and West Indies in Nagpur.
Kochar further says, "I know many cricketers such as Chris Gayle, I did speak with him (too). The voice on the tape was mine. If the Indian Government calls me, then I will surely come back."
The letter said that West Indies cricketer Marlon Samuels had leaked vital match information to bookie Mukesh Kochar.
"I'm not a bookie. Samuels is just like a son to me. I did call him, we were just discussing cricket, on how to play better," Kochar adds.
Marlon Samuels also denied giving away match information to Mukesh Kochar, saying he was a friend.
P S Pasricha, the DGP of Maharashtra said, "Robin Singh's name cropped up during the taped conversation. We are trying to confirm who this Robin Singh is."
K K Chaddha, Kochar's friend in Dubai, in a chat with CNN-IBN said he was not aware of match-fixing incident. "Mukesh Kochar is a good friend and I stayed near his house in Dubai."
He further said that he knows underworld don Dawood Ibrahim very well, adding that he has known him since he was in Dubai, not aware of what his profession was.
Chaddha, though, denied having any clue if Mukesh Kochar was involved in match-fixing.
India had beaten the West Indies by 14 runs in the Nagpur ODI in the first of the four-match One-Day series, which India later won 3-1.
