KOCHI: : In a major revamp aimed at further strengthening the organisation, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Sunday went for an organisational makeover.Raghav Reddy of Hyderabad unit has been chosen as the new international president while Praveen Togadia has been elevated as the international working president.Meanwhile, Champat Rai of Delhi wing has been made international general secretary. Ashok Chowgule of Mumbai unit was chosen as the working president (VHP external), while Dinesh Chandra of Delhi unit became the organisational general secretary.It has been decided that existing international president Ashok Singhal and S Vedantam will guide the organisation as advisers.The decisions were made at the three-day meet of the VHP which concluded here on Sunday. The VHP said in statement that the changes have been implemented with immediate effect. The VHP governing council and the Trustee Board passed a resolution against reservations to Muslims and Christians.“The VHP plans to take a global and nation-wide public awareness campaign and democratic agitation in case the government makes any move towards either giving part of OBC/SC/ST/NT quota to Muslims or Christians or gives reservations to Muslims by constitutional amendments,” the statement said.Announcing the decisions, Togadia said, “The VHP governing council aims at enhancing the efforts of total Hindu protection and well-being.”
