Uttarakhand: UP Tourists Missing After Being Swept Away in Ganga in Rishikesh, Search Operation On

At least two people were swept away by strong currents in the river Ganga while bathing near Lakshman Jhula area of Uttarakhand’s Rishikesh on Sunday. Uttarakhand Police along with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have launched a search operation to trace them.

The two were part of a group of eight tourists from the National Capital Region, who arrived at Mast Ram Baba Ganga ghat in Rishikesh to spend their weekend.

The two missing tourists have been identified as Neha Dutt (29), who hails from Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh, and Sahil Gupta (32), a resident of Noida.

Another one of their group members, Sakshi Kumari (39), a resident of Sector-74, Noida also fell unconscious after slipping while bathing in Ganga. She was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, police said.

Other group members, including Chahat (27), Ankur Anand (29), Shreya (17), Naman (19), and Anupriya (20), have been safely rescued, police said.
