New Delhi: Senior intelligence officials claimed that there was a specific alert on September 15 about a possible Fidayeen terror attack in Uri in Jammu and Kashmir.

The alert clearly specified that seven fidayeen attackers from Pak Occupied Kashmir (PoK) are sitting opposite Uri to carry out attacks in Kashmir.

"Apart from inputs on infiltration in Uri sector, there was an alert that the terrorists are camping across the border in Pakistan since August 28 to attack vital security establishments in Jammu and Kashmir," intelligence sources said.

At least 17 jawans martyred and four terrorists were gunned down at 12th Army brigade headquarters at Uri sector near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday morning.

The incident has raised several questions about the security of sensitive army installations in the country.
