The police said the family members cremated the bodies of the minor girls on Monday morning without informing them.

Azamgarh: A murder case has been lodged against a couple in connection with death of their four daughters under mysterious circumstances in Nizamabad area, police said in Azamgarh on Monday.

A case of murder and concealing the bodies have been lodged against Virendra Gaur and his wife Hausala Devi following the death of their four daughters on Saturday night, Deputy Superintendent of Police Harendra Kumar said.

He said that facts being told by the parents regarding death were suspicious and neither any evidence of cremating the bodies, nor the food samples were found.

Kumar said that the parents claimed that the daughters died after consuming stale daal. Twins Rannu (11), Mannu (11) and their two sisters Sunita (8) and Jwala (5) were taken ill allegedly after having stale food in dinner on Saturday night, police said.

The sisters were taken to a private clinic where they died, they said. Their family members cremated the bodies on Monday morning without informing the police, they said.
