Unscientific way of filling potholes

BANGALORE: The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is in a hurry to fill up thousands of potholes in the city.However, traffic experts have observed that the civic agency is not following scientific methods which last longer.According to traffic expert M N Sreehari, the BBMP is practising unscientific method of filling potholes.Explaining the procedure, Sreehari said that one should clean potholes before filling and apply tack coats which are thin layers of asphalt product.Later, a mixture of gravel stones with sand and cement should be mixed and filled in two layers.At the end, it should be sealed with seal coat with pitamin.This is the scientific method of filling, he said.“This procedure takes just half an hour.Instead of this, the BBMP officials is using mud and stones, which will be washed away in one heavy rain,” he observed.Another expert from BBMP name said that potholes filling should not be taken up during monsoon.
