Three persons, including two labourers, were killed and another injured when the wall of a iron pipe factory collapsed due to a storm here, police said on Saturday.

The incident took place in Fortune Metal Ltd factory premises in Siltara industrial area on Friday, Urla City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Rajendra Jaiswal said.

After thunderstorm coupled with rains in the area,labourers inside the factory premises ran to take shelter beside the newly built wall which was around 10 ft in height, he said.

A truck driver of a transport company, who reached the spot to drop some material from his vehicle, also went along with the labourers.

Suddenly, the wall collapsed trapping the victims inside. Soon after the incident locals immediately pulled out the injured from the debris, police said.

Two labourers and the driver succumbed to injuries while being taken to the hospital, they said.

Those killed were identified as Bhuwanlal Sahu (41), Khelan Yadav (30) and the truck driver Kishan (35).

Another injured was admitted to a local hospital where his condition was stated to be out of danger, the CSP said.

A case has been registered and further investigation is on, he said.

The factory belongs to a Ludhiana-based businessman B D Bansal. The factory's local management has been asked to report to the police station, the CSP added.
