This House Well In Udupi Is Overflowing Amid Karnataka Water Crisis
Due to the overflow in this well, the water level of around 3 to 4 wells went up in the neighbourhood.

As the state of Karnataka deals with water scarcity, a miraculous incident took place in Udupi city. A house well in the Parkala area has been reported to be overflowing with water in this unbearably hot climate.

The wells in the houses of Bhavanikatte Garadi part in the Parkala area, Udupi, have dried up because of the summer season. However, a house well in the same locality has amazingly not dried this year, which belongs to Sanjeev Naik.

As per reports, the well is overflowing with water, thanks to a hole in it, which is connected to an adjoining water stream. Due to the overflow in this well, the water level of around 3 to 4 wells went up in the neighbourhood. They have installed the well with three electric and one diesel pump for irrigation in the farm.

The reason behind this is attributed to a mild earthquake in the area, which occurred in 2017 in the summer of that year. According to the social activist Ganesh Raj Saralebettu, the geologists visited the site and believed that the earthquake caused the laterite layers to flow, resulting in high water levels in the well.

The state of Karnataka is going through a water crisis, amid record-high temperatures across the state. The worst-hit city is the state’s capital, Bengaluru, which is reported to have a shortage of 500 million litres of water every day, as told by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The reason for the water scarcity is said to be the extremely low rainfall in the past year. Last year, the state reportedly had 18 per cent below-normal rainfall.
