Telangana: Jagan Reddy to hold massive rally in Hyderabad on Saturday
Earlier in October, Jagan went on an indefinite fast, immediately after his release from the jail, to protest against bifurcation of the state.

Hyderabad: The YSR Congress chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is scheduled to hold a public meeting in Hyderabad on Saturday. It is his first big public meeting after the release from a jail on bail in September.

Jagan spent 16 months in jail as accused number one in the disproportionate assets (DA) case. The CBI has closed the investigations after filing 10 separate charge sheets against him in the case.

Jagan has already positioned himself as the sole saviour of united Andhra Pradesh by openly opposing the creation of Telangana state. He even went on an indefinite fast immediately after his release from the jail. His fast ended after the police took him to a hospital by force.

His proposed public meeting in support of united Andhra Pradesh was opposed by the police citing law and order problems. He went to the AP High Court seeking permission. The AP High Court allowed him to hold a public meeting in peaceful manner. Justice M Rammohan Rao has warned Reddy against making any provocative speeches which could incite the crowd.

The meeting will be held between 2 pm and 5 pm at Lal Bahadur Shastry stadium in Hyderabad. The YSRCP claims that at least 5 lakh people from different parts of AP are likely to take part in the meeting.

The Cabinet decision to pass the bill for the creation of Telangana, India's 29th state has led to massive protests in the regions of Seemandhra plunging the entire region into chaos and darkness for weeks.

This is the first meeting to be addressed by any political party on the division of state after the Cabinet decision. The ruling Congress is accusing Jaganmohan Reddy of stoking fire to unrest keeping the eyes on political gains.

YSR Congress is hoping to win maximum number of seats in Seemandhra region in the coming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. This region has 25 Lok Sabha seats and 175 Assembly seats. The three major parties, YSRCP, TDP and Congress are likely to be engaged in a tough fight in the region.

The pro-Telangana party TRS is standing strong in Telangana region. It has decided to adopt a wait and watch policy over merger of the party with the Congress. Telangana region has 17 Lok Sabha seats and 119 Assembly seats.
