ANGUL: The Inspector-in-charge (IIC) of Talcher police station Harihar Pani has been shifted to Keonjhar reportedly for carrying out a search operation at the residence of Government Chief Whip Rabi Narayan Pani on June 1.The police were on the lookout for Pani’s younger brother Dillip who had been absconding after allegedly slapping a mining inspector at the office of the Deputy Director of Mines. The chief whip, who enjoys the status of a Cabinet minister reportedly took the matter seriously, demanding action against the cop since the protocol required prior warrant to enter his house. Incidentally, the IIC had proceeded on leave for six days soon after the incident and rejoined duty on June 19 only to be sent to Puri the following day on Car Festival duty. DIG, North, Santosh Bala has dismissed all speculations with regard to the IIC’s deputation to Puri and subsequent transfer. Pani was posted in Talcher in April.
