Kolkata: Swine Flu claimed another life in West Bengal taking the toll to six even as the number of people affected by the H1N1 virus reached 100 on Thursday, a senior health official said.
"One person has died in the state because of Swine Flu at a city hospital in the last 24 hours," Principal Secretary (Health and Family Welfare) Moloy Dey said. "We also have reports of 11 new cases of Swine Flu infection in the state," he said.
Nine cases were reported from the city while one each from North 24 Parganas and Howrah district, he said, adding condition of seven patients of all the persons affected in the state was serious.
In the last 24 hours, six patients were discharged from different hospitals in the state after they recovered from the disease, Dey said. Incidentally, 44 patients were released by different hospitals after their recovery on Wednesday.
