BANGALORE: Expectations of the public soar with the launch of Namma Metro, however to find out its impact on the environment, Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) plans to conduct an environment impact study soon.Speaking to Express about the plan of action, A S Sadashiviah, chairman, KSPCB said, “We are in the preliminary process of our plan. We are planning to set up a team comprising KSPCB officials, engineering students and volunteers from NGO’s to conduct the research.” “A set of parameters will be drawn, which will include the increase and decrease of Suspended Particulate Matter (SPM), Respirable Suspended Particulate Matter (RSPM), number of vehicles and the traffic density in and around the Metro operating areas” he added. Both the positive and the negative aspects of Metro on environment will be considered during the study.
