Student hailing from Kochi dies in mishap

COIMBATORE: Use of the cell phone while driving cost the life of a college student at Chinniyampalayam on Thursday night.P Sreejith, hailing from Ernakulam district, was returning to his room in the area around 11.40 pm when he rammed his motorcycle on the road median, the police said. Sreejith lost consciousness as he suffered serious injuries to his head. Passers-by who noticed the accident informed 108 ambulance. However, Sreejith breathed his last on the way to the hospital. Sreejith was a third year BBM student in the NGP Arts and Science College in the city.“The boy was using the cell phone while riding the motorcycle car which resulted in the accident. He had met his friends who were staying nearby and was going back when the accident took place,” said Traffic Investigation Wing Inspector D Sundarajan.The police have registered a case of unnatural death.
