Chandigarh: Himachal Pradesh government on Saturday said it will take strict action if samples of any noodle brand are found to be sub-standard as per food safety standards.
"We will launch prosecution against companies if samples of noodles brand are found to be sub-standard," Himachal Pradesh Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur told reporters in Chandigarh.
He said that directions had been issued to officials concerned to collect sample of Maggi brand for testing.
"Besides, we have also issued directions to take pick samples of noodles being manufactured by other companies," he said.
"We are taking 5-7 samples of noodles from every district for lab testing," he said, adding that "samples have also been taken from Nestle's Una factory for testing". Nestle India has a factory in Una district.
The minister, who also holds portfolio of Revenue department, said the state government was taking samples of all consumable items to check whether they are sub-standard.
"The report of tests is yet to come," he said.
