According to information, Mahesh, who hails from Kadiri, is pursuing MTech in Sri Krishnadevaraya University Engineering College. For the past one year, he has been pursuing Almas (20), a native of Kadiri, studying MBA at the SK University, allegedly harassing her to accept his love.Six months back, Mahesh reportedly confronted Almas at Anantapur bus stop and professed his love but he was hit by sandals in return. But he continued his efforts and on Friday he went to the girl's house in Jivamanu circle in Kadiri and again asked to accept his love. She rebuked him by saying "Enni sarlu chepina budhi radha neeku".Reacting wildly to her rejection, he ransacked the house and threw chairs outside. He then tried to throw acid on the girl but she closed the doors and the acid bottle fell down. A small amount of acid was said to have fallen on the girl. However, Mahesh then went to Kadiri police station and surrendered. Shocked over the development, students, the girl's parents, relatives, locals and minority leaders staged a rasta roko demanding stringent punishment for Mahesh.
