HYDERABAD: The executive committee of the Hyderabad Cricket Association on Monday decided to disaffiliate six institutional teams, including Hyderabad Bottling that play in the A division. But the decision could snowball into a controversy as Hyderabad Bottling were already in the 12-team draw for the A division. The team were to begin their campaign from the second round. The first round matches begin from Tuesday.HCA president Arshad Ayub said the A division (3-day) will now have 11 teams. “We have decided to disaffiliate teams which do not exist. We will, however, give them chance if they produce the relevant documents,” he said. The other five teams that face disaffiliation are- Telephone, Telecoms, Parisharam Bhavan, HMT Bearing and HCL. These five teams play in the institutional league.Ayub, however, clarified that institution teams like SBH and Andhra Bank who play in the three-day matches for A division can field guest players. “A special decision has been taken by the committee to allow these institutions to allow guest players. These institutions have promised recruitment,” he said. However, there is still confusion about whether guest players could play after it was announced on Saturday that players should be on the roll. In fact, many had complained that if the HCA implements the rules, then many teams would not be able to field a full team. “It is good that HCA has clarified on the issue. Many banks and institutions have stopped recruiting players of late and we have been fielding the team with guest players,” said one of the coaches.
