New Delhi: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP from Siwan, Mohammad Shahabuddin has been arrested on Saturday in Delhi by a Bihar Police team on Saturday afternoon.
Police said that he will be produced before a city court later in the day.
A district court in Siwan had on Monday rejected the anticipatory bail application of the MP in a case related to giving false information in the affidavit submitted by him while filing of nomination for the 2004 Sabha elections from Siwan.
According to the FIR, Shahabuddin had mentioned only 19 criminal cases pending against him in the affidavit whereas there were 34 cases against him.
District Magistrate of Siwan S K Mal had recently ordered Shahabuddin's externment from the district till December 20 under the Bihar Control of Crime Act (CCA).
On the Election Commission's directive, the RJD MP's name has also been taken off the voters list following his absence from the address given by him for the past six months despite NBWs pending against him.
Bihar Police team that arrested Shahabuddin from his official residence, was led by a woman Sub-inspector called Gauri.
