Satyagraha: 10 well timed dialogues in Prakash Jha's film
It's a treat to watch Amitabh Bachchan and Manoj Bajpayee pitted against each other in 'Satyagraha'.

New Delhi: Prakash Jha is known as a filmmaker who gives too much emphasise on the rightful use of the language. Though standard Hindi has already been replaced by its popular form in Bollywood but there are veterans who still mouth heavily loaded dialogues with ease and confidence. Amitabh Bachchan, Manoj Bajpayee and Ajay Devgn are among such actors and their services helped 'Satyagraha' in capturing the audience's imagination. To give you an idea of their power packed performances in 'Satyagraha', we have compiled a list of punch lines.

There are spoilers ahead, so you're requested to come back to this page after watching the film.

Paisa hi aapka dharm hai aur bazaar hi aapki morality (Money is your religion and market is your morality): Amitabh Bachchan gives a piece of his mind to Ajay Devgn through this dialogue.

Miss Malini Mishra, jab tak main apne sapno ke saath puri tarah khel nahi leta, unhe bechta nahi (Miss Malini Mishra, I don't sell my dreams before I am done playing with them): This is a sequence in which Mugdha Godse makes a guest appearance in 'Satyagraha'.

Bheed toh main aise khadi kar doon lekin us se kisi ki khaat nahi khadi hogi (I can easily create a mob but that won't sweep anyone off his feet): Arjun Rampal, who delivers this punch line in 'Satyagraha', plays a young, dynamic leader who enjoys control over hundreds of his followers.

Bachpan me kabhi aapke father thapadiyaye nahi the kya, bas mamla theek kijiye aur forget and forgive kariye (Didn't your father slap you in childhood, just strike a compromise and forget this incident): It's a treat to watch Manoj Bajpayee in Prakash Jha's films. This time he plays a politician.

Samajh ke bahar hai s****, har waqt game khelte rehte hain ye log (It's beyond my understanding, they keep playing games): Timing is what makes this dialogue an important one in 'Satyagraha'. A police officer comments on the bureaucratic system in this statement. Now, you understood it, right?

Kya samajh rakha hai humko baraati ka dhol ki aap bajate rahenge aur hum dance karte rahenge (What do you think of me? Am I the trumpet to be blown by anyone and everyone): A failed and autocratic politician's anger comes out in the form of this statement.

Ladkiyaan online toh baat kar leti hain lekin saamne aane pe pehchanti bhi nahi (Girls do talk online but refuse to recognise on meeting in reality): A character stresses on the importance of social media while another brings out the other side of social media in a funny way.

Dekhiye dekhiye ye hai satyagraha ka violence (See, watch this is the violence of satyagraha): Satyagraha is a term that is generally associated with non-violence but a corrupt minister tries to malign the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi.

Humne kaisa desh banaya hai jahan sarkar hi humse kat gayi hai (What type of country have we become where the government is not connected to the public): Amitabh Bachchan is the man to look out for in 'Satyagraha' and he is in the frame when this dialogue hints towards the bigger picture of the country.

Thode time ke liye humko bhi yakeen ho gaya tha ki koi na koi rasta nikalega ye Delhi ka businessman lekin iska toh computer hi chori ka nikla (For a while even I was convinced that this Delhi businessman will do something but his own computer is smuggled): This statement categorises the two sides. The war gets two distinct oppositions from here onwards.

What's your reaction?
