KOCHI: The sacerdotal golden jubilee and sapthathi of Abraham Mar Severios, the seniormost metropolitan of the Jacobite Church, was held at the Municipal Town Hall on Sunday. Mar Severios is head of the Angamaly Diocese. Union Minister of State for Agriculture K V Thomas inaugurated the public meeting held in connection with the celebration. PWD Minister V K Ebrahim Kunju distributed financial aid to the poor. K P Abraham Mar Severios was born in the Peechanikkad Alukkal family in 1941. He studied under Metropolitan Vayaliparambil Mar Gregorios, Fr Patlat Mathai Cor Episcopa and other senior members of the Church. He did his higher education in Russia, Sweden and the UK .He secured a doctorate for his thesis ‘Pastoral Stewardship’ from the Pacific Western University in Chicago. He was ordained as the Metropolitan of Angamaly Diocese by Patriarch Ignatios Zaka I. K P Dhanapalan MP, Anwar Sadat MLA, T U Kuruvila MLA, Saju Paul MLA, S Sarma MLA, V P Sajeendran MLA, Municipal Chairman M T Jacob and District Panchayat President Eldose Kunnappilly also participated.
