Chandigarh: There was further improvement in the condition of star hockey player Sandeep Singh, who was injured after a freak accidental bullet shot.
Though the 21-year-old drag flicker continued to remain under observation at the ICU, but doctors described his condition as "stable".
Singh was "conscious and communicative and is able to sit in his bed."
Sandeep's elder brother Vikramjit Singh said the doctors have advised him to remain in the ICU for another two days, so that he gets due care.
Meanwhile, Sandeep's family here has been anxiously waiting for him to come out of the ICU.
"We are all praying for his early recovery," his father Gurcharan Singh said at the hospital.
Sandeep’s mother Daljit Kaur said that she had met her son at 4 am on Thursday and he appeared well.
"He has been under heavy sedation and has been complaining of aching legs, but overall he looked fine," said Kaur.
"He had been practicing hard for the World Cup, but due to this unfortunate incident his dream has been shattered," Sandeep's parents said.
Echoing the sentiments of Sandeep's parents was his uncle Avtar Singh, who says he has been watching the great interest of his nephew in hockey ever since he turned seven.
"Now, we are all praying for his early recovery so that he can once again yield his stick and bring laurels for his country," the family members said.
