Samuel to step into Collectors shoes

PUDUCHERRY: P Mathew Samuel, Secretary to government (Industries), will serve as Collector in the absence of S B Deepak Kumar, who has gone on leave, it was annou-nced on Wednesday.As per the orders issued by Chief Secretary M Sathiyavathy, Mathew Samuel will serve as Collector till Deepak Kumar rejoins duty after leave. It was also announced that the four Puducherry civil service officers who we-re promoted to IAS rank — Mathew Samuel, G Ragesh Chandra, G Thevaneethi Dhas and B R Babu — have been designated as Secretaries to the government. They will continue to serve the administration by holding charge of the same departments and subjects they were holding as special secretaries. They were retained in the administration against the reserve strength of IAS officers as per orders issued by the Lieutenant Governor on January 4. In view of the government relieving Cholleti Prabakar (IAS), who was transferred, Ragesh Chandra, Secretary, Cooperation, has been allocated stationary and printing in addition to the portfolios held by him. Similarly, the portfolios of animal husbandry and animal welfare and fire services have been allocated to B R Babu, Secretary, Tourism, in addition to the portfolios held by him.
