Nashik: A lawyer for Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur an accused in the Malegaon blast, on Monday alleged before a court that she was tortured and ill-treated by the police.
Thakur, Major (retd.) Ramesh Upadhyay, and six other accused in the blast case were produced before the crowded court of Additional Magistrate H K Ganatra amid high security.
"Mujhe maloom nahin mera kasoor kya hai (I do not know what is my crime)," Thakur told the court. She requested the court to provide her a Hindi translation of the submission made by her lawyers, as she does not understand English.
Upadhyay told the court that he was not allowed to send letters seeking legal help to his family in Pune. He alleged he was not allowed to contact his family and this was against the "principle of natural justice".
The court extended the judicial custody of eight of the accused till November 29.
Ajay Misar, special lawyer for ATS, argued before the court that the judicial remand of the accused be extended as the investigation was still on.
Shiv Sena activists gathered outside the court and shouted slogans in support of Thakur who was the first to be arrested by the ATS.
