VELLORE: The district administration has sanctioned Rs 3.96 crore for road improvement works across the district. District collector S Nagarajan said, 53 projects which were affected by the recent rains would be taken up under this scheme. A special team comprising technical officials from the department of highways recently conducted a study on roads damages and submitted its report to the collector in this regard.Accordingly, 22 projects at Arakonam-Kancheepuram road, Arakonam-Ocheri road, Arakonam-Sholinghur road, Arcot-Kannamangalam road, Kizhvidhi-Minnal road, Chengalnatham-Rendady road, Karigiri road, Kammavarpudur road, Vellore Central jail road, Amirthi road under the Vellore division which have been damaged due to rains would be repaired at a cost of Rs 1.57 crore. Roads at Tiruvalam, Lalapet, Ranipet would be repaired at a cost of Rs 12.3 lakh.Twenty eight projects under the Vaniyamabadi division at Alangayam-Tirupattur road, Ambur-Sadgar road, Polur-Jamunamthur road, Veladhikamanipenta, Thippasamudram-Mohamedpura road, bargur-Tirupattur road, Dharmapuri-Tirupattur road, Natrampalli-Tirupattur road, Kaveripattinam-Kakkangarai road and Paniyandapalli-Batrapalli road would be repaired at a cost of Rs 2.26 crore.
