Shanghai: Rohan Bopanna and his Romanian partner Florin Mergea advanced to the semi-finals of the ATP Shanghai Rolex Masters with a shock win over fourth seeds Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo on Friday.
The unseeded Indo-Romanian pair recorded a 6-4, 3-6, 10-7 win over the Croat-Brazilian pair in the quarterfinals of the USD 6,521,695 hard court event.
This is Bopanna's best show at ATP Masters this season. He reached quarter-finals at the Canada and Monte Carlo events with Aisam-ul-haq Qureshi.
The will now fight it out with the might Bryan brothers -- Mike and Bob -- for a place in the final.
