HYDERABAD: The Task Force police arrested four robbers, including the gang leader, at a Grave yard at Madannapet. Police recovered a sword, a dagger and stolen cell phones from their possession.Among the accused, Mohammed Shakeel alias Lifer Shakeel is a resident of Santoshnagar, and the others— Syed Yaqoob, Syed Salman and Shaik Shoukat— are from Bhavani Nagar.Additional deputy commissioner of police (Task Force) S Chaturvedi said Mohammed Shakeel alias Lifer Shakeel said during interrogation that he formed a gang with three pick-pockets Yakoob, Salman and Shoukhat, for committing snatching, pick pocketing and robberies on running local trains and railway tracks.He brought arms from Nanded in Maharashtra and gave one weapon to Yakoob and kept one with himself. They all would meet regularly at the graveyard in Madannapet in the evenings and walk up to the Uppuguda railway station where they board local trains and rob passengers between Uppuguda and Secunderabad.Around midnight they return to the graveyard and share the booty equally.“Gang leader Shakeel was also involved in a murder case registered at the Bhavani Nagar police station in 1989. The rowdy-sheet was closed in 1992.Again, in 1999, he was involved in a murder case in Madannapet police limits and was sentenced to life imprisonment. He was released in 2007 was involved in a case under the Arms Act in 2010 in Madannapet.About six months ago he assaulted police personnel in Saidabad police station limits,’’ the DCP said.The arrested, along with the seized material, were handed over to the Madannapet police.
