Light rainfall poured over several parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) on Friday bringing much-needed relief from the intense heatwave over the area. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted further relief from the searing heatwave in the city over the weekend as the sky is likely to remain partly cloudy on Saturday and Sunday.
In visuals from the city’s RK Puram area, rain can be seen lashing the busy road, providing a welcome change from the scorching heat.

Similar scenes were also witnessed in other areas of NCR, including Haryana’s Gurugram.

The IMD has predicted thunderstorms accompanied by light rain on Friday in some parts of the city. The maximum temperature is likely to settle around 40 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, the minimum temperature in the city settled at 28.4 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the season.
Delhi and adjoining areas continue to face severe hot weather conditions, with monsoon expected to hit the region around June 30. In the last 24 hours, a total of 22 fatalities due to suspected heat-related illnesses have been recorded at Delhi’s RML and Safdarjung and LNJP hospitals.
