Chandigarh: The Shiromani Akali Dal and BJP alliance is leading in 67 seats in Punjab and is confident that it will get the numbers in the 117-seat House to form government.
The Congress is leading in 45 seats. Cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu (BJP) was leading by 51,000 votes over his Congress rival Surinder Singla in Amritsar Lok Sabha bypolls.
Chief Minister Amarinder Singh was leading in Patiala Town by around 3,000 votes. SAD President Parkash Singh Badal has won from Lambi assembly constituency.
Local Bodies minister Jagjit Singh and Animal Husbandry minister Jagmohan Singh Kang were trailing behind SAD nominees from Kartarpur and Morinda respectively.
Deputy Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal was leading by 1,199 votes from Lehra assembly constituency. Former SGPC President Jagir Kaur is trailing by about 4,000 votes behind Sukhpal Singh of the Congress in Bholath assembly constituency.
SAD Mann President Simranjit Singh Mann was trailing at third place from Dhanoula assembly constituency where Congress nominee Kuldeep Bhattal was leading.
