Jammu: The Election authorities on Sunday asked the private television operators in Kathua district to desist from showing content of the election campaigns that violates the Model Code of Conduct during the ongoing assembly elections.

District Election Officer (DEO), Kathua, Mandeep Kaur has called upon private television operators of the area to not to show content that violates the Model Code of Conduct on their channels while telecasting election campaigns of various political parties.

Acting on complaints that some private TV operators had shown contents on their channels that violated the Model Code of Conduct, the DEO directed the District Information Officer, Kathua, who is the Member-Secretary of the Monitoring Committee, to collect and scrutinise the recordings of election-related programmes telecast by private channels in the last four days.

Kaur asked the members of the monitoring committee to keep a close check on the election-related programmes shown by various TV channels and submit daily reports in the matter.
