Plea to fill lower court jobs

CHENNAI: S Prabakaran, president of TN Advocates Association, has appealed to Chief Justice MY Eqbal and other companion judges to initiate immediate suitable action to fill up the vacancies in the subordinate courts in the State.Prabakaran said that more than 200 posts of civil judges (both senior and junior divisions) were lying vacant in the lower judiciary. Since the TN Public Service Commission, the appropriate authority to make the selection and appointment, was entangled in corruption charges, it had become almost defunct. The inordinate delay in filling up the vacancies was resulting in accumulation of cases, Prabakaran said, and requested the CJ to conduct the selection and recruitment directly.
