KOCHI: His service has brought a flicker of hope to orphans, the destitute and women who have lost their husbands in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. He was the international president of the Patengemeinschaft Organisation for Hungry Children for the past 20 years. Dieter Hueske’s devotion and commitment to the welfare of the needy has won him the German Governments prestigious service cross award for noble and outstanding work in 2010. As part of his Kerala and Tamil Nadu visit, Dieter Hueske will be in Kochi on Sunday. Through the Patengemeinschaft organisation, he has been running 40 children home for boys and girls offering service to 1,700 hungry children in India. Besides the many charity projects in Tamil Nadu, two tribal hostels for girls are being run at Attappadi and Wayanad, catering to the needs and providing education to tribal children. Patengemeinschaft for Hungry Children has a registered office in India at Kolenchery. P V Paulose and K V Thampi are its president and secretary respectively. The other officers in charge of various programmes are K T Yacob and Baby Paul. Hueske left his post as finance manager of Hauny Machines Company in Germany to devote himself to charity. He started raising funds to help hungry children in India through individual sponsors in Germany. He has a passion for helping the poor and needy children in South India.
