Srinagar: In yet another shocking instance of a politician on a power trip, People's Democratic Party MLA Ashraf Mir fired celebratory shots by an AK47 rifle after defeating former chief minister Omar Abdullah from Sonawar the assembly seat recently.
The incident took place outside his residence while his supporters were cheering him on for winning the election. Mir has earned the tag of Kashmir's giant killer after defeating Omar by over 4000 votes.
However, it is not confirmed whether the AK47 belonged to him to him or to his security officer.
After defeating Omar Abdullah at Sonowar, PDP leader Mohammad Ashraf Mir had said, "I was always confident about winning from here. Omar Abdullah tried his level best, we tried our level best. This constituency was captured by NC for the almost 15 years, but we managed the game well. Omar was not a fighter but as a CM he was a threat, this was why I was thrilled and excited."
