New Delhi: Rajya Sabha resumed after repeated ruckus with the Congress demanding the resignation of Finance Minister Arun Jaitley over the issue of demonetisation.
Responding to the Opposition demand for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s presence in the house, the Government said he has “many other responsibilities” and can’t be present every time.
“There is no precedent that shows that the PM should be present all the time and respond to everything,” Jaitley told the speaker.
Earlier, Upset over the repeated disruption of the Parliament, Senior BJP leader L K Advani on Wednesdsay expressed his disappointment and blamed the government and the Opposition for not being able to run the House.
BJP MPs too raised “Himmat Hai toh charcha karo” slogans challenging the Opposition for a debate over the issue of demonetisation.
