New Delhi: Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari has said that he is following the US President Barack Obama's concept of finding a solution to problems by talking about it.
“We have always maintained that the Parliament is willing to do anything. We can do anything, we can talk about it. Let us not bring it on the streets. Let us bring it on into the Parliament. It’s the same concept as Obama is talking about that with those who are ready to give up arms, we are ready to talk,” Zardari said.
But on the issue of the Swat valley, Pak President Zardari is in denial mode again. Now he says the Taliban does not control the Swat valley and it is only media hype.
He also dismissed reports of the Sharia Law being imposed in parts of the country, saying he never signed any such law.
According to Zardari, Sharia court has existed in Pakistan for 30 years, known for dispensing speedy justice.
He insists that the Sharia courts are different from Taliban Courts.
This statement comes just a month after the Pakistan government struck a controversial and widely criticised deal with the Taliban, agreeing to impose the Sharia law in exchange for peace. Meanwhile, in their latest diktat, the Taliban have banned NGOs from the area.
