KOCHI: Even as the controversies related to the alleged role of former State Attorney P C Iype in the ice cream parlour case is yet to die down, the state government on Monday decided to appoint him as the Additional Advocate General.
There were allegations that it was through Iype that K A Rauf tried to influence the judges in the ice cream parlour case. Iype has been special public prosecutor with the Customs and Central Excise and its standing counsel.He had been the state attorney from 2001 to 2006 in the Kerala High Court. He had worked as standing counsel of the KSFE and the Kerala Shipping and Inland Navigation Corporation.

He was government pleader and public prosecutor in the District Court Ernakulam. Son of P J Cyriac of Putharickal, Iype started his career as the junior of advocate Vellanikkaran in 1979 in Kochi.
