Bihar Police on Thursday arrested a man for allegedly duping a Japanese tourist of Rs 3.50 lakh from a village under Fatehpur police station area in Gaya district.

Bihar Police on Thursday arrested a man for allegedly duping a Japanese tourist of Rs 3.50 lakh from a village under Fatehpur police station area in Gaya district.

Acting on a complaint lodged by Japanese tourist Shinji Kutchi, a native of Nakagawa city, police arrested accused identified as Mohammed Saddam from Devkipur village and recovered Rs 70,000 from him, police said.

Kutchi in his complaint alleged that Saddam and his associate Mohammed Muhib alias Munjib had withdrawn Rs 3.5lakh using his credit card, ASP Ashok Kumar Singh said, adding that raids were being carried out to nab Muhib, a native of Jagdishpur Abdilla village under Mufassil police station area.

Singh said that upon receiving Kutchi's complaint sent through the Japanese Embassy in New Delhi, an FIR was lodged against Saddam and Muhib at Fatehpur police station under sections 120B, 420 and 406 of the IPC on Wednesday. In his complaint, Kutchi alleged that the two accused befriended with him in Kolkata last month speaking fluent Japanese and convinced him visiting Saddam's native village in Gaya.

And on April 5, the Japanese went there and the two took his credit card on pretext of hiring two bikes, Singh said. Kutchi said he returned to Delhi from Gaya on April 10 and on checking his credit card's details found Rs 3.50 lakh was withdrawn using the card and he alleged that it was done by Saddam and Muhib, Singh said. Kutchi promptly lodged a written complaint with the Japanese Embassy which forwarded it to the Gaya Police who filed an FIR against Saddam and Muhib for forgery and related charges, the ASP said.
